Abstract
Der Coronadiskurs war im Kern gekennzeichnet durch einen Fokus auf Zahlen, Daten und statistische Kurven. Wissenschaftliche Prognosen und Modellierungen beherrschten das alltägliche Leben. Der prognostische Blick in die pandemische Zukunft war dabei maßgebend für weitreichende gesellschaftspolitische Entscheidungen. Robert Niemann geht in seinem Essay der These nach, dass die Coronapandemie im Zuge dieser Zentralstellung des Prognostischen einen neuartigen wissenschaftlichen Subjekttyp hervorgebracht hat, den Prognostischen Propheten. Dieser ist Wissenschaftler und öffentlichkeitswirksamer Popstar zugleich und sein Sprechen richtet sich auf eine düstere, beängstigende Zukunft. Wie ein Prophet weist er den Menschen den Weg durch die pandemische Katastrophe und sorgt dafür, dass sie der prognostizierten Modellierung Glauben schenken und ihm folgen. Das Zukunftssprechen ist in diesem Sinne nicht nur reine populärwissenschaftliche Vermittlung, sondern vor allem auch eine machtvolle Form subtiler pandemischer Menschenführung. Diese neuartige Form einer rhetorischen Führungstechnik wird in diesem Essay exemplarisch am Sprechen Christian Drostens in seinem Corona-Podcast herausgearbeitet. Sie ist möglicherweise auch eine Folie für kommende Katastrophen, die mit wissenschaftlicher Expertise kommunikativ begleitet werden.
