Abstract

Examines aspects of electronic document interchange (EDI). The Group on Electronic Document Interchange (GEDI) was formalized in Oct 1990, in Sept 1991 it defined a mutually accepted technical framework to facilitate EDI between GEDI partners. All have a mutual interst in the electronic exchange of the full texts of documents. GEDI set out a framework which is a defacto standard for EDI. It encompasses existing ISO open standards and related products which will facilitate compatibility interoperability between the participants' library networks and in parallel offer greater functionality to their end users
