Abstract
Harald H. Zimmermann war schon von jeher ein außergewöhnlicher Universitätsprofessor. In vielerlei Hinsicht kann man sagen, dass er seiner Zeit - teilweise deutlich - voraus war. Vielleicht kann man ihn als einen Hochschullehrer bezeichnen, der schon früh erkannt, umgesetzt und gelebt hat, was man später, mit einem nicht unproblematischen Begriff als 'postmodern' bezeichnet hat: Er hat Wissensgebiete miteinander verknüpft, die teilweise unverbindbar schienen; er hat die akademische Welt mit anderen Bereichen (etwa der Wirtschaft, aber auch der Politik oder, nicht zuletzt, der Literatur) verbunden, als dies noch gänzlich unüblich war. Harald Zimmermann hat dies geleistet, weil es sich so ergeben hat und er ganz einfach die Resultate seiner Forschungen sichern beziehungsweise anwenden wollte. Und weil er ein offener, neugieriger Mensch ist, sich immer wieder begeistert neuen Herausforderungen stellt. Schließlich: weil er ideenreich und denkerisch flexibel ist wie nur wenige.
