Abstract
Einleitung Wie nahezu alle Bereiche unseres gesellschaftlichen Lebens muss sich auch das deutsche Normungssystem auf die Herausforderungen durch die Globalisierung einstellen. Nachdem weltweit bereits in vielen Ländern nationale Normungsstrategien entwickelt werden, benötigt auch Deutschland eine gemeinsame Ausrichtung seines Handelns im Bereich der Normung. Das Deutsche Institut für Normung (DIN) und die am deutschen Normungssystem beteiligten interessierten Kreise haben 2004 mit der Formulierung der Deutschen Normungsstrategie einen entscheidenden Schritt zur Neuausrichtung der deutschen Normung getan. Auf der Grundlage der Normungsstrategie und der in ihr definierten Ziele wird der NABD wie alle anderen Normenausschüsse Implementierungspläne erstellen und die Normungsstrategie auf seine konkrete Arbeit beziehen. Ein wichtiges Ziel ist die Intensivierung der Öffentlichkeitsarbeit, dem der NABD u. a. durch die Durchführung von Veranstaltungen auf Bibliothekartagen, durch Veröffentlichungen etc. gerecht werden möchte. Als Spiegelgremium zum Technischen Komitee TC 46 "Information and documentation" der Internationalen Organisation für Normung (ISO) nehmen im NABD deutsche Experten in derzeit acht Arbeitsausschüssen Stellung zu internationalen Normungsvorhaben oder erstellen eigene Vorschläge und Norm-Entwürfe. Über den Stand der Arbeiten in den einzelnen Arbeitsausschüssen soll an dieser Stelle berichtet werden. Dabei ist als besonders erfreulich hervorzuheben, dass Dank des über das Kompetenznetzwerk für Bibliotheken 2004 erstmals bereit gestellten Förderbeitrages, die Führung des internationalen Sekretariats ISO/TC 46/SC 8 "Bibliotheksmanagement" ab dem Jahr 2005 übernommen werden kann. Für einige Arbeitsausschüsse konnten zudem neue Mitarbeiter gewonnen werden und damit die Normungsarbeit des NABD auf eine breitere Basis gestellt werden. Interessenten für eine Mitarbeit in den Arbeitsausschüssen des NABD können sich an die Geschäftsstelle im DIN wenden.
