Briefly explains the current situation in the development of standards for EDI stressing the move away from the TRADACOMS standard to EDIFACT, in the UK and elsewhere. Notes the important role of the EDItEUR organisation in the development of EDIFACT, and how the Book Indistry Communications (BIC) organisation is promoting standards in the UK
