    Die elektronische Fachinformation bestand bislang vorwiegend aus klassisichen datenbanken. Mittlerweile zeichnet sich hier jedoch ein Wandel ab, der vor allem durch CD-ROM-publizierende Fachverlage getragen wird. Neben das auf dem Online-Markt dominierende Modell der klassischen Datenbank treten neue Formen der elektronischen Textvermittlung. Dieser Beitrag versucht eine Typologie der textuellen Information. Erwägungen zur korrespondierenden Abfragesoftware speziell im CD-ROM-Bereich und ein Asublick auf die nähere Zukunft sollen den Anbietern elektronischer Fachinformation als Entscheidungshilfe dienen

    Kann die deutsche Sprache als Datenbankabfragesprache eingesetzt werden? Seit Jahrzehnten wurde diese Frage verneint, weil klare Kriterien für die Formalisierung natürlicher Sprache und Werkzeuge für eine kostengünstige Durchführung fehlten. Allerdings darf diese Frage wieder gestellt werden, seitdem Techniken für deren Formalisierung zunehmend zur Verfügung stehen.     Daß die Computernetze in den USA ihre Wuzeln unter anderem in den Grass-Roots-Initiativen haben, ist bekannt. Weniger bekannt ist, daß das Projekt der Clinton/Gore-Regierung zur Schaffung einer Informations-Infrastruktur auch von aktiven Bürger-Initiativen kritisch-konstruktiv begleitet und beeinflußt wird. Während in Deutschland die Weichen für die zukünftige Mediengesellschaft hinter verschlossenen Türen gestellt werden, ist dies in den USA ein offener Prozeß. Dabei ist die zentrale Frage, wie eine Grundversorgung der Bevölkerung mit Information sichergestellt werden kann

    TOSCANA ist ein Computerprogramm, mit dem begriffliche Erkundungssysteme auf der Grundlage der Formalen Begriffsanalyse erstellt werden können.In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird diskutiert, wie TOSCANA zur bibliothekarischen Sacherschließung und thematischen Literatursuche eingesetzt werden kann.     Abstract
    In einer Vielzahl von IuD-Einrichtungen wird das Problem diskutiert, in welcher Weise die Kosten für innerbetriebliche Informationsvermittlungsstellen für Management und Controlling sinnvoll dargestellt werden können. Hierbei sind die Probleme in der Praxis erheblich, so daß über neue Formen betriebswirtschaftlicher Informationssysteme nachgedacht werden muß. Da es sich beim Rohstoff Information um eine strategische Ressource handelt, ist es weniger verwunderlich, daß ein Großteil der IuD-Einrichtungen mit dem klassischen Erfassungswesen gescheitert ist. Somit ist für die Zukunft die Definition neuer Erfolgsfaktoren notwendig
