Abstract: Die traditionellen Verfahren der bibliothekarischen Sacherschließung - entwickelt für Zettelkataloge - werden heute für den Aufbau begrifflichen Datenbanken angewendet. Auf den Jahrestagungen der Gesellschaft für Klassifikation in Kaiserslautern und Oldenburg wurden die dabei entstandenen Probleme in vielfältigen Beiträgen durchleuchtet. Neben grundsätzlichen theoretischen fragen standen die praktischen Möglichkeiten von automatisierten Systemen zur Gewinnung von Ordnungsdaten und zur Verbesserung des Retrieval im Vordergrund
