Abstract

Input, retrieval and display of each Japanese, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Persian, Hebrew and Yiddish (JACKPHY) language in its correct script is now available through the Research Libraries Information network (RLIN). Arabic was put into production in Nov 91 completing JACKPHY support. Discusses the implementation of non-Roman scripts, computer encoding of Arabic characters, the Research Libraries Group representation of Arabic script following USMARC specifications, graphic representation of Arabic script, input of Arabic script, non-Roman data in bibliographic records, RLIN output, Arabic and USMARC and the RLIN database
