Abstract
Warum Menschen Götter haben, beschäftigte bislang vor allem Kulturforscher. Nun haben Mediziner den Ursprung der Religion im menschlichen Gehirn lokalisiert. Durch Experimente finden die Autoren heraus, was im Gehirn vor sich geht, wenn Menschen beten. Ihr sensationeller Befund: Es gibt eine Hirnregion, die für religiöse Gefühle zuständig ist. Ob betende Christen oder meditierende Buddhisten - es werden die gleichen Hirnzellen auf die genau gleiche Art aktiviert. Religion ist meßbar geworden. Verständlich und präzise stellen die drei Autoren den neuesten aufregenden Aspekt der Hirnforschung dar und liefern einen wichtigen Beitrag zu einer der ältesten Fragen der Menschheit: Warum gibt es Religion?
