Abstract

Dieser Artikel untersucht am Beispiel des Fachs Physik die folgenden beiden Fragen: Was müssen Virtuelle Forschungsumgebungen leisten, um moderne naturwissenschaftliche Forschung adäquat zu unterstützen, und auf welche Weise können Bibliotheken zur Realisierung dieser Leistungen beitragen? Im Hinblick auf diese Fragestellungen werden die Bereiche Projektmanagement, Informationsretrival und -management, Forschungsprimärdatenmanagement, elektronisches Publizieren und Langzeitarchivierung sowie organisatorische Querschnittsaufgaben in den Blick genommen. Es wird ein Katalog von möglichen Diensten und Anwendungen Virtueller Forschungsumgebungen in der Physik entwickelt und diskutiert welche Dienstleistungen Bibliotheken in diesem Zusammenhang anbieten könnten. Anhand dreier Fallbeispiele (HEP-CG, GAVO, AWOB) werden diese Überlegungen zudem mit der Praxis abgeglichen.
