Abstract

Ein einschichtiges Bibliothekssystem wie das der Bergischen Universität Wuppertal ist schon konzeptionsbedingt eng mit Forschung und Lehre an der Hochschule verbunden. Nicht zuletzt aufgrund dieses engen Kontakts hat die Universitätsbibliothek Wuppertal früh die Notwendigkeit erkannt, mit eigenen bibliothekarischen Angeboten die Kompetenz von Studierenden und Lehrenden im Umgang mit modernen Informationsmitteln zu stärken. Eine wichtige organisatorische Weichenstellung erfolgte bereits 1999 mit der Schaffung eines neuen Dezernats, zu dessen Kernaufgaben die Erarbeitung und Umsetzung eines langfristigen Schulungskonzepts in enger Zusammenarbeit mit einem eigens gegründeten Schulungsteam gehörte. Die Aktivitäten bezogen sich zunächst auf den Aufbau einer nach Zielgruppen differenzierten Palette von Schulungsangeboten, die von Einstiegskursen für Studienanfänger über vertiefende Datenbank- und Internetrecherche-Übungen bis hin zu speziellen Angeboten für Tutoren und Lehrende reicht. Später erweiterte sich das Spektrum um ein in den Optionalbereich eines Kombinatorischen Bachelorstudiengangs integriertes eigenständiges Lehrangebot, für das eine Leistungsbewertung nach ECTS erfolgt.
