"Das fächerübergreifende Internetportal für wissenschaftliche Information vascoda und das Hochschulbibliothekszentrum des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen (hbz), das für den technischen Betrieb verantwortlich ist, wird künftig eine neue Suchmaschinen-Technologie einsetzen. Die neue Technologie ermöglicht eine schnelle und qualitativ hochwertige Literaturrecherche in Datenbanken wie ECONIS, Hamburgisches Weltwirtschaftsarchiv (HWWA) oder auch in dem Sondersammelgebiet Betriebwirtschaft der Universitätsbibliothek Köln. Für die Suche in bibliografischen Datenbanken nutzt vascoda bisher eine Metasuche. Hierbei verbindet sich das Portal mit den angeschlossenen Datenbanken, sendet eine Abfrage und nimmt schließlich die Ergebnisse entgegen. Gesucht wird via Internet in zahlreichen Datenbanken, so dass nicht vorhersagbar ist, wie viel Zeit eine Antwort benötigt. Um eine schnellere Recherche zu ermöglichen, setzt vascoda künftig Suchmaschinen-Technologie ein, bei der ein gemeinsamer Index der beteiligten Datenbanken durchsucht wird. Da die Daten für die Suchmaschine aufbereitet werden, erhalten die Anwender mehr und bessere Ergebnisse. Getestet wird die neue Technologie im Rahmen eines Pilotprojekts zunächst im Bereich Wirtschaftswissenschaften auf www.vascoda.de; hier werden fünf Datenbanken umgestellt. Gehostet und regelmäßig erneuert wird der gemeinsame Index der Datenbanken beim hbz."
