Abstract
Leibniz zählt zu den schwierigsten und unzugänglichsten Denkern der Philosophiegeschichte. Anders als etwa Descartes, Kant und Hegel, die die Architektur ihres Philosophierens transparent gemacht haben, hat Leibniz sein System in einer labyrinthischen Denkbewegung entfaltet, deren Nachvollzug den Leser vor große Probleme stellt. Holz bietet mit seiner Einführung den Zugang zu einem Denken, das an der Schwelle einer "modernen" Erkenntnishaltung steht. "Modern" ist Leibniz' Metaphysik darin, daß sie nicht mehr vom bloßen Abbildcharakter der Erkenntnis ausgeht. Vielmehr stellt sie auf der Basis der logischen Voraussetzungen, die der Erfahrung innewohnen, ein System von Axiomen auf, aus dem der funktionelle Zusammenhang der Dinge und Sachverhalte abgeleitet werden kann. An die Stelle des "Bildes" der Welt tritt ein Strukturmodell. Bei Leibniz wird das systematische Philosophieren zur Konstruktion der Begriffe und Begriffsbewegungen, durch die eine Welt zu beschreiben ist. Der konsequente Konstruktivismus der Leibnizschen Metaphysik steht am Beginn einer Entwicklung, die ihren vorläufigen Höhepunkt in den Systemen Fichtes, Schellings und Hegels gefunden hat.
