Zehn Usability-Tipps 1. Klare Struktur: Strukturieren Sie Text, Illustrationen und Navigation übersichtlich, damit der Leser sich auf einen Blick darin zurechtfindet. 2. Weniger ist mehr: Das gilt für alle Site-Elemente: Text, Bild, Navigation - und ebenso für den Einsatz von Effekten. Setzen Sie Designelemente und Effekte sparsam und zielgerichtet ein, und sehen Sie Alternativen vor. Verlassen Sie sich nicht darauf, dass der Besucher Javascript aktiviert oder Plug-ins installiert hat. 3. Orientierungshilfen geben: Eine Suchfunktion, eine Sitemap und die Statuszeile helfen dem Besucher, sich zurechtzufinden oder das zu finden, was er sucht. 4. Kleine Portionen: Portionieren Sie Ihre Texte. Arbeiten Sie mit Teasern, die den Inhalt längerer Texte kurz beschreiben. Der Volltext wird dann erst auf Anforderung geladen. 5. Barrierefrei gestalten: Berücksichtigen Sie, dass zum Beispiel auch Blinde oder Sehbehinderte Ihre Seiten besuchen, und gestalten Sie sie entsprechend. 6. Bildvorschau: Benutzen Sie kleine Vorschaubilder, die auf Wunsch vergrößert werden können. Damit reduzieren Sie Ladezeiten. 7. Verständlich verlinken: Teilen Sie dem Anwender mit einer klaren Beschreibung im Titel mit, wohin ihn Links führen sollen. Heben Sie bereits besuchte Links farblich ab. 8. Standards berücksichtigen: Halten Sie sich an eingebürgerte Standards. Was sich auf bekannten Websites bewährt hat, ist dem Anwender bereits vertraut. 9. Der mündige Anwender: Lassen Sie dem Anwender die Kontrolle über seinen Browser, so dass er sich Schriftgrößen oder Fenstergröße nach wie vor selbst definieren kann. 10. Kontaktsuchen:Bieten Sie dem Anwender eine leicht zugängliche Möglichkeit, über verschiedene Wege Kontakt zu Ihnen aufzunehmen, und reagieren Sie schnell darauf.
