Abstract
In dieser Arbeit wird das VD 17-Projekt vorgestellt. Der Erörterung des Themas ist zunächst ein kurzer Exkurs in die Entwicklungsgeschichte des Projekts vorangestellt, um einen Überblick über die Vorgeschichte und Planungsohasen des Projekts zu gewähren. Im Mittelpunkt stehen daher 4 Aspekte: zunächst wird der Inhalt des Verzeichnisses anhand des geographischen Umfangskonzeptes, der inhaltlichen Schwerpunkte der Teilnehmerbibliotheken sowie durch die inhaltlichen Erschließung und die dafür angeandten Regelwerke. Ein großes Gewicht wird anschließend der technischen Relaisierung des VD 17 sowie den Recherchemöglichkten in der multimedialen Datenbank zugeordnet
