Abstract

Die Konzeption einer "Gesellschaft des Wissens" wird vielfach mit Vorstellungen der Unsicherheit, der Indeterminiertheit, der Kontingenz, der Instabilität, der Flexibilität etc. von sozialen Lagen und Handlungsabläufen in modernen Gesellschaften in Zusammenhang gebracht. Hier scheint eine relativistische Denkweise zum Ausdruck zu kommen, die allerdings auf sozio-ökonomische Systemzwänge zurückführbar ist. Sie gibt auf jeden Fall Anlaß zu versuchen, den Relativismus und die entsprechenden gesellschaftlichen Praktiken zu "überlisten" und dem emanzipatorischen Potential, das in diesen Denkweisen und Praktiken enthalten sein mag, nachzuspüren. Dies würde natürlich bedeuten, daß man gleichzeitig mit der Umformulierung von Begriffen, wie Kontingenz und Indeterminiertheit, auch die Werte näher bestimmen müßte, aus deren Nicht-Vollzug Lagen der Kontingenz, Indeterminiertheit etc. entstehen. Unbestimmt und kontingent z.B. sind Beziehungen, die Solidarität und Kooperation verunmöglichen und die Akteure aus der Verantwortung ausschließen. Wirklich flexibel ist die Arbeit, die nicht-mechanisch ist, die interessant ist und Spaß macht. Was not tut, in Theorie und Praxis, ist, gegenüber den Gefährdungen, die die neuen Organisationsformen der Gesellschaft mit sich bringen, neue Formen der Solidarität zu erfinden. Die Menschen erfahren, daß die neuen Formen der Gesellschaftsorganisation ständig auf das angewiesen sind, was sie selbst, indem sie Atomisierung und Konkurrenz institutionalisieren, systematisch ausschließen, d.h. nämlich Dialog, Beteiligung und kollektive, erfinderische Tätigkeit - gerade also das, was den Akteuren "wert" ist. Hier ergibt sich eine Reihe von Antinomien, die sich insbesondere als Antinomien der Gesellschaft des Wissens ausweisen. Der Begriff der Wissensgesellschaft bezieht sich auf eine Gesellschaft, in der Wissen mit immenser, in der menschlichen Geschichte zum ersten Mal möglich gewordener Geschwindigkeit produziert und verbreitet wird, in der aber die Akteure in soziale Beziehungen eingeflochten sind, die ihnen die Kontrolle über Voraussetzungen und Konsequenzen des Gebrauchs von Wissen entziehen. Gefahr, die durch den Wissensgebrauch entsteht, Unwissen, Herrschaft, die sich durch Wissen reproduziert, und Zerstörung von Wissen koexistieren mit der enormen Verbreitung von Wissen, während Mangel an Solidarität und Mißtrauen den Wert dessen, was wir wissen, relativieren.
