Abstract

Unser Denken, unsere Gefühle, unser Selbstbewußtsein - sind unsere geistigen Aktivitäten physikalische Zustände, und können sie letzlich in physikalische Begriffen beschrieben werden? Paul M. Churchland tritt überzeugt für diese provozierende These ein. Nach seiner Auffassung wird sich das Gehirn mit Hilfe der Theorie neuronaler Netze verstehen lassen, und dies dürfte in naher Zukunft für unser Leben weitreichende Konsequenzen haben, etwa für den philosophischen, sozialen, medizinischen, rechtlichen und persönlichen Bereich
