Abstract

Bibliothekare sind seit einiger Zeit dabei, die Informationsmengen des Internet für Ihre Benutzer professionell aufzubereiten. Weltweit gibt es dazu einige Erfolg versprechende Ansätze, die dieser Beitrag aufzeigt. Eine Sonderstellung hat dabei die Arbeit der Internet Public Library, die an der Universität Michigan / Ann Arbor beheimatet ist. Frühzeitig, Anfang 1995 gegründet, hat sie sich schnell zu einer hoch beanspruchten Öffentlichen Bibliothek im Netz entwickelt.
