Abstract
Der Erfolg von Swiss Re als Rückversicherungsgesellschaft basiert zu einem grossen Teil auf Wissen, Expertise und Erfahrung. Deshalb hat Swiss Re in den letzten Jahren wesentliche Anstrengungen unternommen, um ihre Kompetenz in den Bereichen Wissensmanagement und Wissenstransfer zu optimieren. Die Entwicklung und Implementierung eines Intranetportals bedeutet einen wichtigen Schritt auf dem Weg zu einer lückenlosen Wissensinfrastruktur. Das Portal erhöht damit sowohl die Transparenz über vorhandenes Wissen, als auch die Geschwindigkeit beim Zugriff auf relevante Informationen. Das Intranet Portal, K.portal, ersetzt keines der existierenden Systeme, sondern ermöglicht das so genannte »One-stop-shopping«, indem es erlaubt, von einer Oberfläche aus auf verschiedene, bereits vorhandene Systeme zuzugreifen. Jede Mitarbeiterin und jeder Mitarbeiter von Swiss Re gelangt über einen Webbrowser auf die Einstiegsseite von k.portal und kann sich innert kürzester Zeit einen Ueberblick über das aktuelle Geschehen im Geschäftsbereich verschaffen. Im weiteren ermöglicht k.portal den direkten Zugriff auf Dokumente, die in verschiedenen Datenbanken und Applikationen aufbewahrt werden, bietet eine Sammlung qualitativ hochstehender Quellen an und erlaubt die persönliche Gestaltung der Benutzeroberfläche
