Abstract

Dieses Lehrbuch gibt erstmals eine Gesamtdarstellung des Forschungs- und Entwicklungsbereichs Föderierte Datenbanksysteme. Ein zentrales Ziel dieser Systeme ist die Integration bestehender und bislang getrennt verwalteter Datenbestände, insbesondere heterogener Datenbanken. Dabei geht es um einen einheitlichen und transparenten Zugriff, der auch neue, systemübergreifende Anwendungen erlaubt, bei gleichzeitiger Erhaltung der Autonomie der ursprünglichen Systeme
