Abstract

Die Abteilung Presse- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit der DLR bietet mit zahlreichen Materialien umfassende Informationen über die Forschungs- und Entwicklungsarbeit der DLR im gesamten Spektrum Luftfahrt - Raumfahrt - Energietechnik. Die angebotenen Medien waren bis zum Frühjahr 1991 nur durch unzulängliche konventionelle Erschließungsmittel zugänglich. Oft wurde gänzlich ohne Erschließung gearbeitet, also das 'gute Gedächtnis' der Mitarbeiter der Pressestelle benutzt. Da die Bestände weiterhin stark wuchsen, drohte der Überblick gänzlich verloren zugehen. Man entschloß sich, die Dokumentation völlig neu aufzubauen und eine Datenbank zu installieren, um die Informationsflut zu bewältigen
