Abstract

Discusses the complementary nature of WWW access and CD-ROM networks, with emphasis on: importance and feasibility of combining Web access and CD-ROM networks; the benefits and necessity of considering the community network environment as a whole, rather than focusing on the particular library; and the need for flexibility in considering new technologies. Describes the experience of the Occidental College Library (Los Angeles) which indicates the possibility of building such a network
