Abstract
Discusses Wandell Graphics new software product nased on the 1997 North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS). NAICS, effective from 1 Jan 97, is replacing the 1987 US SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) which has been widely used in statistical economic analysis. NAICS is a new 6-digit classification available in computer searchable form using Folio 4 and Folie 3.1 platforms for electronic publishing. As with the old 1987 SIC, the NAICS will index applications beyond statistical economic analysis and reporting. For example, the NAICS will be used by attorneys; banks; insurance companies; employment services; city planning; environmental protection agencies; and publishers. Wandell Graphics will provide the new '97 NAICS in 2 versions: 1997 NAICS to 1987 SIC cross reference providing a cross reference between the new NAICS and the old SIC during transition; and a NAICS-ASCII version for organizations with in house databases
