Abstract

Argues that as the new millenium approaches, libraries must change and evolve in order to survive. Reference services can no longer stay behind a desk or within a building's walls. Instead, reference librarians must examine their clientele, determine their information needs, and develop and market appropriate collections and services. The changing instructional paradigm in US classrooms provides an opportunity for reference librarians to expand their efforts to encourage information use and literacy for faculty, teachers and administrators. Discusses information seeking and library use by educators and suggests new approaches to this user group
