Welcome to the website of the CrissCross project
CrissCross is a project financially supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation) and is being executed in cooperation with the German National Library and the Cologne University of Applied Sciences. The project’s aim is to create a multilingual, thesaurus-based and user-friendly research vocabulary that facilitates research in heterogeneously indexed collections.
CrissCross contributes to this goal by mapping the headings of the German Subject Headings Authority File (SWD) to notations of the Dewey Decimal Classification, i.e. its German version (DDC Deutsch). Contributing to the project MACS the German National Library continues linking SWD subject headings to their equivalents of the Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) and the French indexing vocabulary RAMEAU.
The experiences and expertise gained in the CrissCross project are utilized within the RESEDA project for developing a conceptual interoperability model that connects methods of semantic knowledge representation with the design of retrieval scenarios.
The project startet 2006 and ended 2010.
