    Abstract
    Die Microsoft Encarta sieht die Geschichte Palästinas aus einer einseitigen Perspektive. Wer in alten Zeiten etwas über die Welt erfahren wollte, kaufte sich den legendären "Brockhaus", Meyers Konversationslexikon oder das "Große Bertelsmann Volkslexikon". Derartige Bücher waren auch innenarchitektonisch wertvoll, weil man sie als Zeichen der Bildung, gemessen in Kubikmetern, in der Schrankwand gut sichtbar platzieren konnte. Nachschlagewerke waren praktisch "für die Wissensbedürfnisse des bürgerlichen Alltags". Für den bürgerlichen Alltag mit dem Computer, der von Windows-Produkten wimmelt, bietet sich heute die Microsoft Encarta als Compact Disk an, eine Enzyklopädie des Wissens für den Hausgebrauch. Nur steht dort an manchen Stellen grober Unfug. Und wenn es um Israel geht, fragt man sich, ob die in der deutschen "Encarta" vertretenen Thesen nur schlecht redigiert sind oder ob Microsoft anti-israelische Vorurteile bewusst fördern will. Das jüdische Portal haGalil spricht sogar von "Geschichtsverdrehung unter enzyklopädischem Deckmäntelchen"

    Abstract
    Das Passagen-Retrieval erlaubt explorierendes Navigieren in Volltextdatenbanken, aber auch in textorientierten Hypertextbasen. Es wird experimentell an fünf, im Information Retrieval geläufigen Assoziationskoeffizienten überprüft, inwieweit mit ihnen Textpassagen, gewonnen aus der Konversion von Absätzen aus einer Buchvorlage (Hypertextbuch von R. Kuhlen, 1991b), automatisch verknüpft werden können. Voraussetzung für die Anwendung der Maße ist eine Volltextinvertierung mit linguistisch abgesicherter Stammformenreduktion. Die Ergebnisse, gewonnen aus der Bewertung der Verknüpfungsangebote entsprechend den Berechnungen nach den fünf Koeffizienten und aus dem Vergleich mit einer intellektuellen Verknüpfungsvorgabe, zeigen eine deutliche Präferenz zugunsten des Asymmetrie-Maßes, das vielleicht noch durch eine Kombination mit dem Cosinus-Maß verbessert werden könnte. Die automatisch erstellten Verknüpfungsangebote sind sowohl im Autoren-Modus zur Unterstützung des Aufbaus von Hypertextbasen sinnvoll als auch im Lese-Modus als Möglichkeit des assoziativen Navigierens in großen Hypertextbasen verwendbar.

    Abstract
    In mehrfacher Hinsicht erscheint der Mythos als das Andere gegenüber der uns vertrauten Vorstellungswelt. Im Spiegel des Mythos sich selber erkennen - dies ist der Fluchtpunkt der hier unternommenen Reflexion auf den Mythos. Sich im Anderen erkennen, verlangt zweierlei: das Andere in seiner Eigenart zu begreifen und in ihm nicht nur das beziehungslos Fremde zu sehen. Diesem doppelten Ziel ist die vorliegende Untersuchung verpflichtet. Genauer ist der Horizont, in den sie sich situiert, durch den Gang vom Mythos zur Philosophie definiert; ihr Gegenstand ist der Mythos als Vorgeschichte der Metaphysik.

    The modern electronic research funding information system ELFI (ELectronic Research Funding Information System) has been developed with the co-operation of the Ruhr-University Bochum and the GMD (Gesellschaft für Mathematik und Datenverarbeitung, Sankt Augustin). One source provides all important information an research such as deadlines, research programmes, application procedures etc. A modern and innovative database-technology and a relevant bibliographic and factual adaptation of the information enables the user to create a personalised web-page adapted to his desires. The most important things are included: - Funding Organisation - Funding department - Procedures - Conditions and authorisations ELFI fulf ls its aim as a database by being: - Up to date (fast access to new data by using the web-robots) - consistent (uniform data format), - reliable (use of links to original sources of information) and - precise (selection of personalised profiles/active view).

    "Die Deutsche Bibliothek hat die 3. RSWK-Ergänzungslieferung zur 3.
