    Abstract
    In dieser Arbeit werden der Entwurf und die Entwicklung eines Vermittlersystems erläutert, das vor allem hochspezialisierte Wissenschaftler und Ingenieure bei der eigenständigen Suche in einer Vielzahl wichtiger Online-Datenbanken unterstützt. Online-Recherchen sind bisher überwiegend den Informationsvermittlern vorbehalten, die die Verbindung herstellen zwischen dem Informationssuchenden und dem Online-Dienst, der die Information möglicherweise anbietet. Üblicherweise schlägt der Informationssuchende Suchbegriffe vor und beurteilt die Relevanz der Ergebnisse, während die Aufgabe des Informationsvermittlers darin besteht, passende Datenbanken und Hosts auszuwählen und dann die Suche durchzuführen, wobei er auf sein Wissen über Strukturen und Inhalte der verschiedenen Datenbanken sowie über Online-Suchtechniken zurückgreift. Teile dieses komplexen Wissens sind in unser System integriert worden und stehen den Selten- bzw. Endnutzern in höchst benutzerfreundlicher Form zur Verfügung. Zukünftige Weiterentwicklungen des Systems werden auch professionelle Online-Rechercheure umfassend unterstützen
