    Das Thüringer Patentnetz hat das Ziel, durch die konsequente Realisierung der Dienstleistungskette Informieren - Beraten - Fördern - Patentieren - Verwerten die Patentergiebigkeit zu intensivieren. Dabei werden die Informationsleistungen, insbesondere die Internetleistungen - die Patentdatenbanken und der Patentvolltext-Lieferdienst - sowohl den Hochschulen als auch der Industrie zur Verfügung gestellt. Ca. 1000 Unternehmen nutzen vor allem die Internetleistungen das PATON der TU Ilmenau, um einen Wettbewerbsvorsprung zu erzielen.     Abstract
    Zweieinhalb Jahre, die jetzt enden, waren für den Anschluss Öffentlicher Bibliotheken an die Digital Bibliothek NRW vorgesehen. Drei Großstadtbibliotheken, Köln, Düsseldorf und Dortmund haben das Projekt, gemeinsam mit dem HBZ Köln, realisiert. In der DigiBib finden die Nutzer unter einer einheitlichen Oberfläche eine Fülle verschiedener nach Qualitätsmaßstäben selektierter Informationsquellen, die die beteiligten Bibliotheken zusammen gestellt haben. Parallele Recherche, Status der Verfügbarkeit und Zugang zu Bestellsystemen sind nur einige Leistungen der DigiBib. Für die nächsten Jahre ist der verstärkte Anschluss von Öffentlichen Bibliotheken und die Einbindung der Deutschen Internetbibliothek klares Ziel, und auch der Service soll, zum Beispiel über die Integration der automatisierten Fernleihe, weiter entwickelt werden

    Abstract
    Der Siegeszug der elektronischen Medien, insbesondere des weltumspannenden Datennetzes Internet, hat den traditionellen Informationsfluß in der Wissenschaft durcheinandergebracht. Seit Wochen wird in Deutschland auf höchster wissenschaftlicher und politischer Ebene diskutiert, was zu tun ist, um die eigene Forschung in dieser Lage international konkurrenzfähig zu halten. Auf einem Workshop in Berlin suchten jetzt vier große wissenschaftliche Fachgesellschaften zum ersten Mal gemeinsam 'neue Wege der wissenschaftlichen Information und Kommunikation'.     Warum eigens eine Methode zur Analyse fundamentalistischer Agitation im Internet? Weil der semiotische Universalcharakter des Intemets, d.h. die Verflechtung von Bild, Sprache und Schrift die Möglichkeiten revolutioniert, Welt zu konstruieren und wahrzunehmen. Weil im multimedialen Raum des Internets das demokratischste Prinzip von Demokratie enthalten ist: "Unbestimmtheit". Weil Fundamentalismus diese Unbestimmtheit vernichten muss.
