    Abstract
    Die UNESCO vertreibt kostenfrei die Software Micro-ISIS für PCs. Zur Anwendung in kleinen Dokumentationseinrichtungen unter dem Dach des International Development Information Network (IDIN) wurde ein eigenes IDIN-Format geschaffen, das unter dieser Software eingesetzt werden kann. Besonders berücksichtigt sind dabei unselbständige Werke und die Sacherschließung mit Hilfe des 'OECD Macrothesaurus for Information Processing in the Field of Economic and Social Development'. Das Format ist abgeleitet vom 'Common Communication Format (CCF)', das ebenfalls im Auftrag der Unesco entwickelt wurde. IDIN ist eine vereinfachte Version und hat eine andere Behandlung mehrteiliger Werke

    Abstract
    Die Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz gehört in immer stärkerem Maße zu den Kernaufgaben der Hochschulbibliotheken. Voraussetzung für eine erfolgreiche Strategie ist jedoch, dass regelmäßig Kenntnisstand und Defizite der Studierenden überprüft werden. Sechs Jahre nach der SteFi-Studie, die bundesweit grundlegende Mängel in der Informationskompetenz der Studierenden aufgezeigt hatte, hat die Arbeitsgemeinschaft Informationskompetenz im Bibliotheksverbund Bayern daher von November 2006 bis Februar 2007 eine Online-Umfrage unter den Studierenden von neun bayerischen Universitäten und fünf bayerischen Fachhochschulen durchgeführt. An der Befragung nahmen 13792 Studierende teil. Die Ergebnisse sind für die jeweilige Hochschule unterschiedlich repräsentativ. Insgesamt ergeben sich jedoch deutliche Trends, die im vorliegenden Bericht analysiert werden.

    Abstract
    Transitive Meronymie. Automatische begriffsbasierte Suchanfrageerweiterung unter Nutzung gewichteter transitiver Teil-Ganzes-Relationen. Unsere theoretisch orientierte Arbeit isoliert transitive Teil-Ganzes-Beziehungen. Wir diskutieren den Einsatz der Meronymie bei der automatischen begriffsbasierten Suchanfrageerweiterung im Information Retrieval. Aus praktischen Gründen schlagen wir vor, die Bestandsrelationen zu spezifizieren und die einzelnen Arten mit unterschiedlichen Gewichtungswerten zu versehen, die im Retrieval genutzt werden. Für das Design von Wissensordnungen ist bedeutsam, dass innerhalb der Begriffsleiter einer Abstraktionsrelation ein Begriff alle seine Teile (sowie alle transitiven Teile der Teile) an seine Unterbegriffe vererbt.
