    Abstract
    In Zeiten fortrasender Virtualisierung sind Bibliotheken nicht mehr gottgegeben unhinterfragte Einrichtungen jeder Hochschule. Glaubt man einem sachfremden, jedoch bibliotheksaffinen Experten wie Prof. Peter Weibel, dem Vorstand des »Zentrums für Kunst und Medientechnologie« in Karlsruhe, dann werden sie nur als virtuelle Dienstleistung überleben. So lautete die These seines Vortrags anlässlich des Seminars »Die Mediengesellschaft und die Zukunft der Bibliotheken« des Berufsverbandes BIB und der ekz.bibliotheksservice GmbH in Reutlingen im Juni 2007. Doch so muss es nicht enden, wenn wir gegensteuern und uns als »Teaching Library« durch die Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz als elementaren Teil der Hochschullehre profilieren.

    Abstract
    Die großen Datenmengen, die heutzutage erfolgreich gemanagt und bearbeitet werden müssen, sind nicht nur eine Herausforderung für den Competitive Intelligence-Manager. Für eine effektive Analyse genügt es leider nicht, nur die Informationen zu sammeln, vielmehr müssen sie so aufbereitet werden, dass sie eine möglichst vollständige Datenbasis für die spätere Interpretation darstellen. Dabei sind immer wieder Lücken in der Datenbasis feststellbar. Um diese zu schließen, werden in diesem Beitrag fünf Methoden zur Aufbereitung von lückenhaften Informationen vorgestellt, auf ihre Einsatztauglichkeit untersucht und miteinander verglichen. Im weiteren Teil der Arbeit wird besonders die Analogieschlussmethode mit ihren Anwendungspotentialen ausführlich dargestellt.

    Abstract
    Das 11. Internationale Symposium für Informationswissenschaft (151) findet vom 1. bis 3. April 2009 an der Universität Konstanz statt. Die Tagung ist eine Gemeinschaftsveranstaltung des Hochschulverbandes für Informationswissenschaft (HI) und der IuK-Initiative Wissenschaft. In insgesamt 17 Sektionen werden über 33 Vorträge gehalten, die nach strengem Reviewing vom Programmkomitee ausgewählt wurden. Dazu gibt es viele Sondersektionen, so Doktoranden-, Poster- und Firmenpräsentationen.
