Abstract
Discusses communication in design. Although the view that the interpretation of both language and artifacts not only depends on context but does so fatally, so that no generalisation across contexts can be made safely is philosophically sound, common sense and an everyday experience of using language revolt against this position. To analyze design as communication is profoundly useful and the analogy is not yet exhausted but the border and periphery metaphor will soon vanish. Describes how pace is important to design giving technological examples
