Abstract

Die Entwicklung des deutschen Fernsprechbuches, das erstmals 1881 in Berlin als blaues Oktavheft mit 94 Eintragungen erschien, ist Thema dieser Arbeit. Schwerpunkt bildet die Analyse der zwischen 1901 und 1941/42 von der Oberpostdirektion Frankfurt herausgegebenen Fernsprechbücher. Durch Hinzuziehung der Sekundärliteratur wird jedoch immer der Bogen zur allgemeinen Telefonbuchentwicklung in Deutschland gespannt. Die Entwicklung von 1945 bis 1990 wurde im wesentlichen anhand der Sekundärliteratur verfolgt. Bestimmender Faktor für die Fernsprechbuchentwicklung war die fast kontinuierlich steigende Zahl der Fernsprechanschlüsse und die damit einhergehende Zunahme der zu verzeichnenden Teilnehmer. Welche Maßnahme im einzelnen ergriffen wurden, um das Fernsprechnbuch weiterhin in handlichem Format und zweckmäßiger Typographie und Anlage herausgeben zu können, wird ausführlich dargestellt. Untersucht wurde außerdem, inwieweit die Fernsprechbuchasugaben allgemeine Entwicklungen im Fernsprechwesen sowie politisches, wirtschaftliches und kulturell-gesellschaftliches Geschenen widerspiegeln
