Abstract

Describes a project, undertaken by the National Library of Wales, to compare computerized systems for the storage and retrieval of historic maps and cartographic records. Outlines the selection and purchase of software, cataloguing of a representative sample of historic cartographic materials, system customization and data input. Data derived from the system evaluation is used to enable conclusions to be drawn for future computerized map catalogue development
