Abstract

Das World Wide Web verbindet die für einen Laien zunächst völlig undurchschaubaren Internet-Dienste wie FTP, Gopher und News zu einem klar zu überblickenden Ganzen. Die speziell für das WWW entwickelte Software und die Dokumentenbeschreibungssprache HTML sind aber nicht für den globalen Einsatz geeignet, sondern lassen sich auch außerhalb des Internet, Im LAN oder selbst auf einem Stand-alone Rechner einsetzen
