Abstract

Reports the results of unstructured interviews with 10 reference librarians in various types of libraries to discover what reference librarians need and want to know to carry out their jobs. The interviews covered: what skills and knowledge are important to reference work, how are these competencies developed, and what is the proper role of educational programmes in developing these abilities
