Abstract

During recent decades library service for blind and visually impaired readers was provided almost exclusively by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physicall Handicapped (NLS) of the Library of Congress. A CD-ROM version of the NLS catalogue of publications has now been produced. Discusses the technological advances that have opened material to readers. With the introduction of the Library of Congress Information System (LOCIS), readers can independently search the catalogue of the NLS. Describes the NLS service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped and Recordings for the Blind. Holdings of Recordings for the Blind is now available through LOCIS' Braille and Audio database. Describes searching LOCIS, saving search results and other LOCIS features
