Abstract
Authoring software is becoming a necessary tool for developing interactive software. Describes 3 basic categories of tools educators may use to produce courseware: traditional programming languages; authoring languages, including hypertext authoring languages; and authoring systems and authoring aids. Evaluates each category in terms of flexibilty and complexity and discusses in detail the selection criteria for developing interactive multimedia programmes
