Abstract

Das documenta archiv zählt in der Landschaft der Kunstarchive sicherlich zu den außergewöhnlichsten in Deutschland. Zum einen ist es aufgrund seines inhaltlichen Schwerpunkts sehr international positioniert: Kein anderes Kunstarchiv in Deutschland hat aufgrund der Bestände des international agierenden Kuratoren- und Kuratorinnen-Teams und der aus allen Kontinenten eingeladenen Künstlerinnen und Künstler eine solche Reichweite an Nachfragen, die in Kassel aus der ganzen Welt eintreffen. Zum anderen ist es - mit dem Bauhaus-Archiv - eines der beiden ältesten Kunstarchive Deutschlands.
