Abstract

Discusses the chances of implementing a standard user interface for CD-ROM applications. Considers whether there is a need for such an interface from the points of view of the users, the disc publishers and the software vendors. Investigates the advantages and disadvantages of 2 solutions to the user interface dilemma. The first involves the implementation of currently available de-facto standards and the second is a software concept. Examines how development has progressed for the second concept and the groups in the CD-ROM industry which are currently working on it
