Abstract

Informationsfülle und Datenflut sind bekannte Charakteristika der Informationsgesellschaft. Ein Großteil der Daten befindet sich im sogenannten "hidden web". Dazu gehören auch viele Bibliothekskataloge. Das von Google sozialisierte Publikum hat häufig Schwierigkeiten, sich im OPAC ihrer Bibliothek zu orientieren, insbesondere bei sehr umfangreichen Katalogbeständen und Titeldaten. Um den Umgang mit dem OPAC und anderen Datenbanken zu erlernen, werden an Universitäts- und Fachbereichsbibliotheken zunehmend Informationskompetenzschulungen für die Angehörigen des jeweiligen Campus angeboten. Die Deutsche Zentralbibliothek für Wirtschaftswissenschaften - Leibniz-Informationszentrum Wirtschaft (ZBW) dagegen hat keinen "eigenen Campus", da sie einen überregionalen Informationsversorgungsauftrag hat, den sie zu einem großen Teil durch die Produktion der wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Literaturdatenbank ECONIS erfüllt. In ECONIS befinden sich zur Zeit über 4 Millionen Datensätze, die Titeldaten sind mit dem kontrollierten Vokabular des StandardThesaurus-Wirtschaft (STW) erschlossen, die über den OPACS der ZBW recherchiert werden können. Damit themenspezifische Literatur besser gefunden werden kann, bietet die ZBW Informationsvermittlung durch kompetentes Fachpersonal an, indem sie sowohl Informationen auf Anfrage per Chat oder E-Mail über Ihren Auskunftsdienst EconDesk liefert als auch Literaturempfehlungen ohne Kundenauftrag im Internet publiziert wie den im Folgenden vorgestellten Informationsdienst "Econis Select"
