Abstract

Am 6. und 7. November 2007 fand die 53. Sitzung der Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Verbundsysteme auf Einladung des Bibliotheksverbund Bayern in der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek in München statt.

Darin u.a.: - Umstieg auf MARC21 Die Vorbereitungen für den Umstieg von MAB2 auf MARC 21 als einheitliches Austauschformat sind weitgehend abgeschlossen. Noch in Arbeit sind die Konkordanz MARC 21 - MAB2, das Editionssystem, die Übersetzung von MARC 21 Concise und die Expertise zu MARCXML. Die Änderungswünsche bei Feldern in MARC 21, die für den Umstieg erforderlich sind, wurden vom dafür zuständigen Gremium Machine Readable Bibliographic Information Committee (MARBI) in 12 von 13 Fällen angenommen. Die Veröffentlichung dieser Felder erfolgt in Kürze. Im Laufe des Jahres hat die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek zwei Workshops zu MARC 21 für unterschiedliche Zielgruppen durchgeführt: einen internationalen für Formatexperten im Mai und einen für die Anbieter und Hersteller von Bibliothekssystemen im September 2007. Die Vertreter der Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Verbundsysteme haben sich für einen Umstieg im Austauschformat im Laufe des Jahres 2008 ausgesprochen. - Kooperative Neukatalogisierung Ziel des Projektes Kooperative Neukatalogisierung, an dem alle deutschsprachigen Verbünde (BVB, GBV, hbz, HeBIS, KOBV, OBV, SWB und ZDB) sowie die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek (DNB) beteiligt sind, ist die Erarbeitung von Maßnahmen zur Verbesserung der Datenübernahme im Bereich Formal- und Sacherschließung der Verbünde untereinander. Schwerpunkte hierbei sind die Senkung der Eigenkatalogisierungsquote, die Anreicherung von Katalogisaten mit zusätzlichen Informationen (Sacherschließung, TOCs usw.) und die Angleichung bzw. Vereinheitlichung von Regelwerksanwendung, Formatanwendung und Qualitätsstandards in den Verbünden. Seit Mai 2007 stellen alle Projektpartner wöchentlich über ftp Differenzabzüge mit neuen und korrigierten Datensätzen zur Verfügung. DNB und ZDB liefern Daten über ihre Datendienste aus. Mit den bisher erreichten Ergebnissen bei den Z39.50-Zugängen und beim Datentausch ist die Basis geschaffen, eine verbesserte Datenübernahme unter allen Projektpartnern zu realisieren. Im Jahr 2008 soll der wöchentliche Datenaustausch evaluiert werden. Die verbesserten Z39.50-Zugänge zu allen Projektpartnern sollen durch Marketingmaßnahmen eine noch größere Akzeptanz in der täglichen Praxis finden und so der Umfang einer kooperativen Neukatalogisierung in den Verbünden gesteigert werden.
- AG Datenanreicherung Die in der Arbeitsgruppe Datenanreicherung vertretenen Verbünde verfügen mittlerweile über ausreichende Erfahrungen in Hinblick auf Datenanreicherung. Für den Datentausch bestehen bilaterale Übereinkommen zwischen den Verbünden. Es gibt jedoch Bedarf, die vielfältigen Aktivitäten zu koordinieren. Unter anderem sind Fragen zu Nutzungsrechten bei Links, zur Kostenpflichtigkeit der Nutzung und zur Langzeitverfügbarkeit der Daten noch nicht endgültig geklärt. Die nächste Sitzung der AG Datenanreicherung wird Anfang 2008 stattfinden. Die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek wird im Januar 2008 in eine konkrete Arbeitsphase eintreten. Die Ausschreibungen für die Scans zur Datenanreicherung (Images und OCR) sollen bis Ende 2007 abgeschlossen sein. Einbezogen werden soll der gesamte aktuelle Bestand der Reihe A (Monografien und Serien) mit Ausnahme der Kinder- und Jugendbücher, der Schulbücher und der Belletristik. - Online-Kommunikation mit Normdateien Nach dem erfolgreichen Abschluss der Hersteller-Funktionstests mit der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek, hat diese, gemeinsam mit den Anwendern, Funktionstests durchgeführt. Seit Anfang September ist die erste Stufe der Online-Kommunikation zwischen den regionalen und überregionalen Normdatenbanken im produktiven Einsatz. Die Online-Update-Schnittstelle für die PND wird von den Redakteuren im HBZ im Echtbetrieb verwendet. Für die Aktualisierung überregionaler Normdaten aus dem regionalen Bibliothekssystem heraus wird erstmalig Z39.50-Update im Echt-betrieb eingesetzt. Die grundlegenden technischen Entwicklungen seitens der Systemhersteller Ex Libris und OCLC PICA sind abgeschlossen. Damit ist die Basis für eine Ausdehnung auf andere Verbünde, andere Normdateien, offenere Redaktionskonzepte und andere Hersteller gelegt. Ein Konzept für ein gestuftes Redaktionsverfahren wurde von der Arbeitstelle für Standardisierung bereits Anfang 2007 erstellt und mit den Expertengruppen für Normdaten abgestimmt. Der BVB, als Pilotpartner der DNB für die OAI-Schnittstelle, hat den Test im September wieder aufgenommen und will das OAI-Harvesting-Verfahren bald einsetzen, ebenso das HBZ und der OBV. Eine Ausweitung des Verfahrens über die PND-Redaktionen hinaus soll in den genannten Verbünden sehr bald erfolgen.
- KIM - Kompetenzzentrum Interoperable Metadaten (DFG) Das Kompetenzzentrum Interoperable Metadaten (KIM) ist ein von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) gefördertes Projekt, das unter Federführung der Niedersächsischen Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen (SUB Göttingen) in Zusammenarbeit mit der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek (DNB) durchgeführt wird. Ziel ist es, die Interoperabilität von Metadaten im deutschsprachigen Raum zu verbessern. In diesem Sinne wird mit KIM eine lnformations- und Kommunikationsplattform mit Experten aus Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz aufgebaut, die Metadatenanwender bei der Entwicklung interoperabler Metadatenprofile mittels Beratungsangeboten, Schulungen und Best-Practice-Lösungen unterstützen und beraten. Im August 2007 hat die AG Übersetzung DCMES von KIM das Dublin-Core-Metadata-Elemente-Set in der Version 1.1. vom Englischen ins Deutsche übersetzt. Die für die Übersetzung zuständige Expertengruppe wurde dabei direkt durch den Usage Board Director von Dublin Core beraten und unterstützt. Die fertige Übersetzung steht auf der KIM-Homepage zur Verfügung. KIM hat von Juli bis September 2007 eine Umfrage zur Nutzung von Metadaten durchgeführt, um seine Dienstleistungen optimieren und diese bestmöglich auf die Bedürfnisse von Metadatenanwendern und -entwicklern ausrichten zu können. Teilnehmer der Umfrage waren Metadatenanwender aus Bibliotheken, Forschung, Verwaltung, Industrie und Wirtschaft. Eine Auswertung der Umfrage wurde Ende Oktober 2007 veröffentlicht. Langfristig soll das Kompetenzzentrum Interoperable Metadaten als Affiliate der Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI) im deutschsprachigen Raum (Deutschland, Schweiz, Österreich) etabliert werden, um die Interessen von Forschung, Behörden, Wirtschaft und Industrie in den Gremien von DCMI zu vertreten. Projektpartner in der Schweiz sind die Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft (FH-HTW) Chur und die Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) Zürich. Partner in Österreich ist die Universität Wien.
Aus dem Österreichischen Verbund: - Unterstützung lokaler Klassifikationsnormdaten Durch Verwenden spezieller Aleph-Funktionalitäten war es möglich, eine Web-Navigation für die Klassifikation eines kleineren Verbundteilnehmers zu erstellen, wobei die benötigten HTML-Seiten wöchentlich aus den entsprechenden Index-Tabellen des Aleph-Systems erstellt werden. Darüber hinaus wurde es möglich, die Katalogisierung durch entsprechende Programme zu unterstützen, die zu eingegebenen Notationen automatisch die verbalen Beschreibungen aus entsprechenden Konkordanztabellen ergänzen - dafür muss dann keine eigene Normdatei gepflegt werden. Diese Lösung kann für Klassifikationen überschaubarer Größe und überhaupt für Prüfungen auf erlaubte und Ergänzung fehlender Werte eingesetzt werden.
