Abstract
Das Internet ist ein neues Kommunikationsmedium mit vielfältigen, virtuellen Begegnungsräumen. Hier entstehen auch soziale Netzwerke, die gemeinsame Sprachrepertoires entwickeln, um das Medium erfolgreich für ihre Zwecke zu verwenden. Sonja Beer eröffnet einen Einblick in die zahlreichen Gruppen, die die Internetkommunikation für den Entwurf von fiktionalen Parallelwelten entdeckt haben. Ihr Beispiel sind die Foren eines besonders komplexen Wirklichkeitskonstruktionsspiels, das "VampireLive", bei dem sich die Teilnehmer in den Rollen phantastischer Figuren treffen. Können Realität und Phantasie hierbei voneinander unterschieden werden? Welche Bedeutungen und Probleme entwickelt das Medium? Welche Rolle spielt die virtuelle Vergemeinschaftung? Wie wirkt sich eine solche Freizeitbeschäftigung auf die Sprachkompetenz der Teilnehmer aus? Dies sind zentrale Fragen, denen die Autorin in ihrer Untersuchung nachgeht und die anhand von Fallbeispielen anschaulich diskutiert werden.
