Abstract

www.dandelon.com ist eine Suchmaschine fur wissenschaftliche Literatur, die mehr findet als andere, ein Datenaustauschzentrum und ein kollaboratives soziales Netzwerk, dem vorwiegend Bibliotheken aus mittlerweile Norwegen, Deutschland, Osterreich, Liechtenstein, Schweiz und Italien angehoren. Vertreter dieses Netzwerks trafen sich zum 5. Mal in der .deutschen Toskana_g, sprich in den Weinbergen am Rande des Pfalzer Waldes . und das Wetter passte einschlagig. Elf erstklassige Weine und besondere kulinarische Genusse in Gimmeldingen rundeten das Treffen der 25 Teilnehmer in Neustadt/Haardt bei AGI . Information Management Consultants ab. Noch nicht ganz eine Million Mal pro Monat kommen Studenten und Wissenschaftler uber ihre jeweilige Bibliothek, uber Google oder gezielt zu dandelon.com. Direkt in dandelon.com werden bisher bis zu 81.000 Fragen pro Monat gestellt und die Ergebnisse mit Highlighting der semantisch verwandten Terme angezeigt. Die ULB Darmstadt ermittelte, dass der zweithaufig genutzte Dienst ihrer Bibliothek nach der ubergreifenden Portalsuche die mit intelligentCAPTURE und dandelon.com produzierten Inhaltsverzeichnisse von Buchern sind. Sie wird diesen Service deshalb stark ausweiten. Zwei Bibliotheken wollen die Suche in ihrem OPAC so schnell wie moglich ganz auf dandelon.com-Technologie umstellen, eine davon der Pionier unter allen, die Vorarlberger Landesbibliothek, die im April 2008 auf die ersten 100.000 gescannten Inhaltsverzeichnisse anstosen konnte (s. den Beitrag von Karl Radler auf S. XX dieser Ausgabe). Mit einem Zuwachs von uber 260.000 Titeln seit Mai 2007 und einem aktuellen Bestand von uber 481.000 Buchern und 550.000 Aufsatzen . die erste Million wurde im April somit gemeinsam produziert . lohnte es sich, Plane fur die nachsten Stufen zu schmieden.
Die letzten zwolf Monate war fur AGI-IMC mit Digitalisierungsprojekten in Kiel, Hamburg, Braunschweig, Hannover, Gottingen, Mainz und Berlin gut gefullt, 172.000 Titel liefen durch die drei Stationen von .intelligentCAPTURE mobile_. Der TagesrekordTagesrekord von 624 Titeln pro Tag und Person (Joel Gecelter) wurde in Kiel aufgestellt (ca. zwölf Stunden), mehrmals danach aber auch über 500 Titel pro Tag erreicht - und dies alles inklusive Übernahme der bibliografischen Angaben, Dublettenkontrolle, NER-Tagging, Scanning, OCR, maschinelle Indexierung, Qualitätskontrolle, Export ins Bibliothekssystem und in dandelon. com. Ansonsten stand die Konsolidierung von Software-Entwicklung und Server-Infrastruktur im Vordergrund. Die systematische Software-Entwicklung von Dipl.-Inf. Wolfgang Herder überzeugte. Das Suchprogramm von dandelon.com wurde komplett umgeschrieben, um der hohen Last besser Stand zu halten.
