Abstract
Seit dem Jahr 2001, also seit gut zehn Semestern, engagiert sich die Universitätsbibliothek Freiburg mit eigenen Kursangeboten zur Entwicklung und Förderung von Informations- und Medienkompetenz im Ergänzungsbereich des Bachelor-Studiums der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität' Sie gehört damit zu den ersten deutschen Hochschulbibliotheken, die es nicht bei fakultativen und punktuellen Schulungsveranstaltungen der Bibliothek belassen, sondern die frühzeitige Verankerung solcher Kurse in die seinerzeit gerade entstehenden Bachelor-Studiengänge bewerkstelligen wollten. Den anspruchsvollen Zielen, die mit dem damals in das deutsche Bibliothekswesen importierten Begriff "Information Literacy / Informationskompetenz" verbunden wurden, sollte durch entsprechend umfassende wie gleichermaßen vielseitige Kursinhalte möglichst weitgehend entsprochen werden. Nach nunmehr fünfjähriger Erfahrung mit in das Studium integrierten Bibliotheksangeboten erscheint eine resümierende Zwischenbilanz sinnvoll. Einführungen in die Benutzung des Katalogs, der wichtigsten fachübergreifenden und fachbezogenen Datenbanken, der Informationsbeschaffung und der sonstigen Bibliotheksdienste hatte die UB Freiburg bereits seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre mit einem im Vergleich zu den früheren Bibliothekseinführungen deutlich erweitertem Umfang und Anspruch angeboten, jedoch waren diese nicht vergleichbar mit den für das Bachelor-Studium zu entwickelnden Kursen, an die der volle Anspruch von lnformationskompetenz als Schlüsselqualifikation zu stellen ist.
