Abstract

Liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen, ein stürmisches Jahr liegt hinter dem hbz. Eine Überprüfung durch den Landesrechnungshof und in Folge der Verlust der gesamten Führungsspitze hat uns vor große Herausforderungen gestellt. Intensive interne Diskussionen haben zu einer strategischen Neuausrichtung des hbz geführt, die uns zuversichtlich in die Zukunft blicken lässt. Für alle die, die das hbz noch nicht kennen: wir sind eine Dienstleistungs- und Entwicklungseinrichtung für Hochschulbibliotheken, Öffentliche Bibliotheken und Spezialbibliotheken innerhalb und außerhalb von NRW. "Außerhalb" ist zwar für die DigiBib nichts Neues, aber für die anderen Produkte des hbz schon. Wir entwickeln die bestehenden Systeme konstant weiter, um die Leistungsfähigkeit und Stabilität zu erhöhen. Greifen innovative Tendenzen auf und setzen diese in bibliothekarische Lösungen um. Wir wollen die Bibliotheken in die Lage versetzen, verstärkt Kundenservice zu leisten, in dem wir sie von DV-Aufgaben entlasten, die zentral effektiver, schneller und kostengünstiger zu leisten sind. Zunächst ein Überblick über die gesamte hbz-Palette - ich werde jedoch nur auf drei Produkte eingehen: DigiBib, Suchmaschine (Drei-Länder-Katalog und Lok-in) - alle drei kommen aus meiner Sicht auch für den Einsatz in einer Spezialbibliothek in Frage.
