Abstract

Digital auf elektronischen Datenträgern vorliegende Informationen können derzeit nur schwer über Jahre gespeichert werden. Im Interesse von Wissenschaft und Forschung muss diese komplexe Aufgabe mit innovativer Technik bewältigt werden.

Unter Leitung Der Deutschen Bibliothek wurde jetzt erstmals ein neues System zur digitalen Langzeitarchivierung erfolgreich getestet. Es könne problemlos in bestehende Bibliothekssysteme integriert werden, teilte das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) am 16. Dezember 2005 in Berlin mit. Das BMBF förderte die erste Phase des so genannten »kopalSystems« (www.kopal.langzeitarchivierung.de) mit 4,2Millionen Euro. Es soll auf der CeBIT 2006 öffentlich vorgestellt werden. Dabei sollen dem Publikum die Aufgaben Land Funktionen eines Langzeitarchivs digitaler Informationen mit einem »kopal-Demonstrator« anschaulich u und greifbar vertmittelt werden. Das Projekt »kopal« (Kooperativer Aufbau eines Langzeitarchivs digitaler Informationen) widmet sich der langfristigen Bewahrung Land Bereitstellung digitaler Daten. Dabei kooperieren Die Deutsche Bibliothek, die Niedersächsische Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen, die Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung Göttingen und die IBM Deutschland. Das von ihnen entwickelte System soll künftig mit standardisierten Schnittstellen kooperativ betrieben werden."
