Abstract

Benutzerfreundlichkeit (bzw. Gebrauchstauglichkeit) ist für den Erfolg von Web-Portalen, aber auch von Hard- und Software entscheidend. Einrichtung und Pflege von Web-Portalen sind aufwändig und damit teuer. Werden sie von vielen Besuchern wiederverlassen, ohne dass diese Kunde geworden sind oder wenigstens wiederkommen, so ist dies unwirtschaftlich und wird jedem Controller ein Dorn im Auge sein. Auch Software, die Anwendern unnötig lange Einarbeitungszeiten zumutet, wird sich am Markt nicht durchsetzen können. Doch obgleich das fast jeder weiß, passiert es immer wieder, dass die Berücksichtigung der Bedürfnisse der künftigen Nutzer oder Kunden bei der Entwicklung unzureichend gelingt. Hier bieten Usability-Labore ihre Unterstützung an. Ihr Angebot ist unterschiedlich, im besten Fall reicht es von Experten-Reviews über Graphical User Interface Design und Styleguides bis hin zu Benchmarking und Usability-Tests mit Benutzern.
