Abstract

Die langfristige Erhaltung und Bewahrung von digitalen Unterlagen stellt für Archive und Bibliotheken eine zentrale Herausforderung der nächsten Jahrzehnte dar. Die Lösungssuche konzentriert ;sich zurzeit hauptsächlich auf akademische Projekte an Universitäten und Forschungsinstitutionen, während Dienstleistungen von privaten Firmen kaum nachgefragt oder angeboten werden. In diesem Artikel wird die Frage erörtert, ob und wie sich ein solcher Markt in den nächsten Jahren entwickeln könnte und wer darauf als Anbieter und Kunde auftreten wird. Es werden mögliche Dienstleistungen präsentiert und vier Geschäftsmodelle vorgestellt, mit denen sich die Langzeitarchivierung von digitalen Daten auf einem freien Markt betreiben lässt.
