Abstract

Videos, Themenreisen, 360-Grad-Panoramen und ein virtuelles Labor sollen das Nachschlagen im Data Becker Lexikon 2005 zum Wissenserlebnis machen.

"Neben den üblichen booleschen Operatoren und Wildcards beherrscht die in den Überschriften oder im Artikelvolltext stöbernde Suchfunktion der Data-Becker-Scheibe auch einen Ähnlichkeitsmodus. Gibt man zum Beispiel "Rochade" ein, so macht dieser Modus den Hochadel, die Hochgrade der Freimaurer und William Hogarths Gemälde "Der Ehevertrag" ausfindig. War eine Suche erfolgreich, dann zeigt eine Leiste unter dem gerade ausgewählten Artikel bedeutungsverwandte Einträge an, die das Thema erweitern oder vertiefen. Auch unerfahrene Anwender dürften mit der Bedienung auf Anhieb zurechtkommen. Wer an Multimedia Spaß hat, geht auf eine Themenreise in die Welten der Technik, Kunst und Musik oder schaut sich fotorealistische 360-Grad-Panoramen an, die berühmte Bauwerke und Plätze europäischer Städte zeigen. Praktiker lüften im virtuellen Labor die Geheimnisse elektrischer Schaltungen oder basteln sich eine Enigma-Verschlüsselungsmaschine. Auch Data Beckers Lexikon 2005 musste sich dem aus 66 Stichworten bestehenden Inhaltstest aus c't 21104 stellen, für den es zu spät erschien. Besonders der Bereich Wissenschaft schnitt schlecht bis sehr schlecht ab, was auch daran lag, dass die Scheibe zwölf von 30 wissenschaftlichen Stichwörtern überhaupt nicht kannte. Im Durchschnitt gerade noch zufriedenstellende Ergebnisse erzielten gesellschaftliche und kulturelle Themen. Alles in allem aber wird der anspruchsvolle Nutzer zu oft wichtige Details vermissen - das Lexikonschnäppchen für knapp 20 Euro überzeugt nicht. (ku)"
