"Das Informationssystem Medienpädagogik / ISM ist ab sofort für alle Interessierten kostenfrei unter www.ism-info.de zu erreichen. Ziel des insgesamt sechs Datenbanken umfassenden Informationssystems ist die Förderung von Medienkompetenz; es enthält ausführliche Nachweise zu Fachliteratur, Lehr- und Lernmedien sowie zu Forschungsprojekten. Die Produkte von ISM sind Arbeitsinstrumente für alle, die über die Entwicklungen im Mediensektor informiert sein wollen und mit dem Einsatz und der Nutzung von Medien in Bildung und Ausbildung befasst sind. Bislang war das medienpädagogische Informationsangebot nur als CD-ROM erhältlich. ISM wird von insgesamt zehn Kooperationspartnern erstellt, die Gesamtredaktion liegt beim IZ Bildung des Deutschen Instituts für Internationale Pädagogische Forschung (DIPF) in Frankfurt/Main. Medienkompetenz zählt zu den Kernthemen in der allgemeinen und beruflichen Bildung, an den Hochschulen sowie in der Weiterbildung. Diese in Wissenschaft und Praxis zu unterstützen und zu fördern, ist das erklärte Ziel des Informationssystems Medienpädagogik / ISM. Dazu werden fachlich relevante Publikationen, Lehr- und Lernmedien, aber auch Forschungsprojekte sowie Daten und Informationen erschlossen und gemeinsam mit wichtigen deutschen Informationseinrichtungen in Form von Datenbanksystemen angeboten. Das ISM-Angebot umfasst sechs Datenbanken und ermöglicht Recherchen in vielfältiger Kombination. Inhaltlich orientiert sich das ISM-Projekt an allen wichtigen Themen, die im Rahmen von Medien und Bildung von Bedeutung sind. Das sind u.a.: Medienpädagogik und Mediendidaktik, Medienkompetenz, Medienforschung, insbesondere Medienwirkungsforschung, Medienpolitik und Medienentwicklung, Kinder- und Jugendfernsehen, Internet in Bildung und Ausbildung, Computer und Schule, Medien für die Unterrichtspraxis, Lesen und Leseförderung, Jugendmedienschutz. Der Online-Auftritt ergänzt die bisher jährlich erschienene CD-ROM. Der Zugang zur Website ist kostenfrei. Die Daten werden in kürzeren Zeitabständen aktualisiert werden; vorgesehen ist ein vierteljährliches Update der Datenbanken. Das Informationssystem Medienpädagogik wird auch weiterhin als CDROM angeboten.
